From today (28 July), Ticketer’s tap on and tap off contactless payment system is live on LMS Travel’s 42 Service in Malvern - the latest step in a wider programme of improvements to modernise bus travel across the county.

This enhancement is part of ������Ƶ’s ongoing commitment to improving the convenience and flexibility of local bus travel.

With the Ticketer system, passengers simply tap their contactless card or device when boarding and again when leaving the bus. The system automatically calculates the best-value fare for the journey - removing the need to choose the right ticket in advance.

Councillor Karl Perks, ������Ƶ County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: "We’re committed to making it easier, faster, and more convenient for people to use public transport and tap on/tap off is a big part of that. This is just the first of many improvements to the ticketing experience planned across ������Ƶ.

“By making travel more convenient and efficient, we hope to encourage more people to choose the bus, whether for commuting, leisure or visiting the region”

The tap on/tap off system helps speed up boarding times by up to 70% and offers more accurate journey data, helping improve service planning across ������Ƶ.

Adam Toone, Ticketer Chief Commercial and Operations Officer, added: “Rollout of tap on/tap off travel is a major step towards offering a more efficient, flexible, and seamless passenger experience.

“More and more transport and local authorities are collaborating with us to deploy our technology on-board their bus services as it not only supports the principles of Enhanced Partnerships but can also be funded through Bus Service Improvement Plan grants. We’re excited to see the continued growth of this initiative and the positive impact it will have on passengers, operators and authorities alike.”

The introduction of this technology is part of the County Council’s ongoing investment in improving public transport and is supported through the Bus Service Improvement Plan and Enhanced Partnerships with bus operators.
