The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Youth Cabinet has appointed a new chair.

Cameron Henry, age 15 from Bewdley, has been appointed into the role and has taken over as chair from Anusha Salhan who was a member and chair of the Cabinet for over four years.

Anusha has stepped down as she prepares to take her place in September at the University of Cambridge to study History.

The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Youth Cabinet is a group of young people aged between 11 to 18 who aim to provide young people who live in the county with a voice on key issues that matter most to them and share them with local, regional and national governing authorities, including local MP’s.

The Cabinet’s manifesto was developed last year from issues that young people across ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ voted on as part of the National Make Your Mark Campaign. The top areas of focus included health and wellbeing, crime and safety, and education and learning.

Cameron said: “First and foremost, Anusha has been an inspirational chair who has tried hard to make a difference where it matters. She has left a tremendous legacy and I’m looking forward to working with the Cabinet, building on the work we have started, but also introducing a range of new initiatives which are outlined in the Cabinet’s manifesto. “

Councillor Justin Bowen, ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ County Council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and Families said: "The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Youth Cabinet plays a vital role in ensuring that young people across the county have a voice and are actively involved in shaping the services that matter most to them. It’s incredibly important that we listen to their views, understand their priorities, and work alongside them to create real change. I’m delighted to welcome Cameron into his new role as Chair and look forward to seeing the Cabinet continue to thrive under his leadership."

Any young person between the ages of 11 to 18 can attend one of the Cabinet meetings. Full meetings are held once a month, where a wide range of issues that are important to young people are discussed.
