Attachments to streetlights
Information about attachments to streetlights.
We recognise that attachments can enhance areas and promote seasonal or specific activities and will work with any public body and help them obtain the necessary permissions to install attachments to streetlights.
Any new application will need to follow a formal process to ensure that the applicant is complying with the requirements, in relation to:
- the suitability of the column (may require structural testing)
- the energy used by the attachment, which must be paid for by the applicant (will require a Meter Point Administration Number MPAN Certificate and an energy supplier)
- the qualifications of the contractor installing the attachment (if electrical, for example, a festive decoration), contractors must be a member of the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS)
- the way it is attached (booking road space and any required traffic management)
- the duration of the attachment, no permanent attachment will be permitted and you will be required to provide a start and end date within your application
